Motorcycle racing has gained four new members in the prestigious Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame 2025! Supercross legend Chad Reed and International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) champions Jessica Gardiner, Tayla Jones, and Jemma Wilson have been inducted, while two-time MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has been elevated to Legend status.
A Night to Remember at the Australian Grand Prix
The induction ceremony took place on March 13, 2025, during the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Reed, Gardiner, Jones, and Wilson joined four other motorsport greats:
- Chris Matheson (Top Fuel motorcycle drag racing)
- Leo Geoghegan (Gold Star champion and Japanese Grand Prix winner)
- David Sera (18-time national karting champion)
- John Sidney (speedway and NASCAR crew chief)
This year’s additions bring the total number of Hall of Fame inductees to 99, celebrating 125 years of Australian motorsport history.
Casey Stoner Joins the Legends
Casey Stoner now stands among motorsport legends Sir Jack Brabham, Alan Jones, and Mick Doohan, who was a special guest at the ceremony. Stoner’s legendary status recognizes his 38 Grand Prix victories, including an incredible six consecutive wins at Phillip Island, and his MotoGP World Championships in 2007 and 2011.
A Historic Moment for Enduro and Supercross Champions
Chad Reed, a former AMA and World Supercross champion, accepted his award via a pre-recorded message. Meanwhile, Tayla Jones made a quick trip from the U.S. after competing in the Grand National Cross Country Series in Alabama to join Jessica Gardiner and Jemma Wilson on stage at Albert Park.
Wilson, Gardiner, and Jones made history by winning the Women’s World Trophy at the ISDE six times from 2013 to 2018. Gardiner and Jones also earned individual titles, marking a golden era for Australian enduro racing. The two are still pushing for a seventh Women’s World Trophy, hoping to make the 2025 selection for the ISDE in Italy.
An Exclusive Club in Australian Motorsport
Induction into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame is incredibly rare—averaging less than one inductee per year since Australian motorsport began on January 1, 1901, the day of Federation.
The Hall of Fame is backed by Motorcycling Australia, Motorsport Australia, Karting Australia, the Australian National Drag Racing Association, and Speedway Australia.
Some past motorcycle racing inductees include Troy Bayliss, Wayne Gardner, Troy Corser, Mat Mladin, and Jason Crump, among other legendary riders.
With this latest class of inductees, Australian motorsport continues to honor its rich heritage while celebrating the achievements of its finest riders.
